The Heritage

In 2008, a beautiful thing happened within the body of Christ in Fort St John, BC.

Two churches, each with a long heritage in the community, were individually experiencing unique challenges.  One was a rapidly growing church with a building that was reaching its capacity.  The other was a church with a faithful, but dwindling congregation who met in a relatively new and spacious facility.

Although from different denominations and backgrounds, both churches were committed to sound Biblical teaching and worship, along with ministering to the needs of God's people and taking the great news of the gospel into the community.

Diligent prayers and discussions between these two congregations culminated in the People's Mission Church of Fort St John and the Fort St John Evangelical Free Church merging their congregations to become the Fort St John Evangelical Mission.

Since that time, this church has maintained its commitment and focus to being a congregation which pleases God in all aspects of its life and ministry.  We're not perfect, but we strive to live as a church family in humble obedience to God and serve each other in love with grace.

The Mission

The mission of Fort St. John Evangelical Mission is to exalt God by enfolding followers of Jesus Christ into a caring community and equipping them to evangelize others in our town and into the world.

The VIsion

By God's grace, we see ourselves becoming a church that is:

... basing our ministry priorities and practices upon the complete truth of the Bible

... relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to live a lifestyle of obedience to Christ

... making disciples who are being equipped for ongoing ministry according to their spiritual gifting

... practicing excellence and creativity in our ministries and administration of God's work

... discovering the changing needs of our community in order to impact individuals in a personally relevant manner

... providing a caring atmosphere that is authentic and welcoming

... expecting God to expand the number of maturing believers in our fellowship
